Over 60’s Group
Every weekday – 10am to 3pm
Our Over 60’s group enjoys a wide range of activities including singing, crafting and other more active options such as chair-based Yoga and Fit Steps. We all love to celebrate special occasions; Christmas, Easter and our UK National Events and milestones. We have even welcomed donkeys and spring lambs to our centre! Entertainers regularly come to the Hub including our local Ukulele Band, Choirs and singers and we also host a wide range of expert talks from Beekeeping to Dog Rescue and Rhino Conservation for all members to enjoy. Benenden School also run regular sing-a-along sessions for our members, hosting them on the school premises in their lovely grounds, with transport taken care of.
Dementia Groups
Accredited as a Dementia-friendly Centre, we understand the challenges that dementia can bring. Our dementia groups support the individual but also their families or carers, and provide reassurance that members are in a safe, welcoming and happy environment. The Hub has two weekday groups with added support from our specialist Dementia Coordinator…
COGS Group
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday – 10am to 3pm
Memory Lane Group
Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 10am to 2.45pm
Support for Carers of individuals with Dementia
Monthly
We will also be running a monthly Memory Lane Café that will support the carers of individuals with Dementia.
This will be an informal drop-in session where, as well as group support, one-to-one appointments can be arranged. Free tea and coffee will be provided.
Our Dementia Coordinator, Emma Reader, will also attend to offer more specific advice and can visit you at home if you prefer.
Please call us on 01580 762882 for Dementia Cafe dates and speak to Trudy Mcnamara.

What our Hub members say...
“really look forward to coming”
I belong to a club in Swanley which I attend when I stay with friends and am new to the Hub. I have to say the Hub is so much better! I’m amazed at what we do. I have started to make new friends and really look forward to coming – you are all amazing!

“I do not know what I would do without it”
I love coming to the Hub two days a week. When my dear husband died I sat around the house feeling sorry for myself, now I look forward to coming and making friends, doing crafts and to a lovely lunch. The transport picks me up and are helpful when getting on and off and we go on lovely trips. I do not know what I would do without it.
RH, Over 60’s Group member
The Hub is a very caring day service and the activities are varied and enjoyable. All staff are very considerate and thoughtful. The gardening and the singing is very good for our mental health and I really enjoy a lovely home-cooked meal!

“I enjoy all of the activities as they are so varied”
It is nice to socialise with others and to bounce ideas off of each other to solve problems. The staff are very friendly and I enjoy all of the activities as they are so varied. My visits are very enjoyable with a wide selection on the menu, nothing is too much trouble and the kitchen team are very accommodating. I come in by the service bus and I like to keep my independence. I really missed attending during Covid, but the staff kept in contact with the members just to check up on and to have a chat. We also go on local trips to get out and about and they even gave us a small gift for Easter.

“thanks… for the kind and patient care we receive”
I was diagnosed with Vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease 8 years ago and as my condition deteriorated I was looking for a non-threatening environment where I could enjoy some time and give my husband the opportunity to manage some work at home. COGS Dementia Group at the Hub has done this. All aspects of my contact with COGS have been caringly and sensitively provided… we are always amazed at the variety and depth of activities that are provided. I particularly love singing and making things and the team games… We would like to express our thanks to everyone at Tenterden Social Hub for the kind and patient care we receive.

“I like the choice of activities… the friendship and camaraderie”
I like the choice of activities; woodwork, walking outside, trips to the museum, taking photos and the friendship and camaraderie. I am looking forward to my trip to the local social club to play darts. I really like the fresh food, especially the vegetables.
