Volunteer with us

Can you spare some time to volunteer with Tenterden Social Hub & Dementia Centre to improve the lives of elderly and disabled people in our local community?

Do you have a few hours to spare each week?

Volunteering with Tenterden Social Hub & Dementia Centre and EC30

Our volunteers are very highly valued and support us in many areas of our organisation. Many come to us with experience of caring for a loved one or with other life skills. By supporting with our member activities, driving our minibuses, delivering our Meals-on-Wheels to helping in our EC30 coffee shop or charity shop, we offer you great opportunities to make a difference to the lives of our elderly and disabled members. Some of our volunteers have been with us for over 40 years!

How to Volunteer with us

It’s simple! Please contact us or just drop in to the Hub in Tenterden and speak with Suzanne Hutchings. She will be happy to chat with you and discuss our volunteering opportunities and the Application Process.

A full induction is provided for our volunteers, and this will be subject to a DBS check and other vetting on application.

Volunteering rewards everyone...

“I have made lots of friendships”

I love helping people and find it very rewarding. I have made lots of friendships and there is always a good atmosphere. I particularly love to see the enjoyment on the faces of the members when they take part in projects and activities.

“I really enjoy getting involved”

I wanted to do some volunteering in the community and found the Hub. My first wife had dementia and I cared for her before she died. I enjoy attending the Hub because it is an organisation that helps both people with dementia and their carers. The group is very well organised, and I really enjoy getting involved in asking and answering questions, helping individuals – and I have lunch with them too.

“It’s been such good fun!”

A couple of months ago I started working as a volunteer at the Social Hub supporting the Disability Group. I am so glad I did as it’s been such good fun! As well as joining in the banter with the members and staff, I have learnt a lot of new crafting skills which they like to test me on!
